Who we are
This policy explains how information is handled through computerfreek.me, the website for ComputerFreek’s Holdings, and the associated IT Services contact and client-support functions. Kyle Hildebrand is the website contact, based in Saint Charles, Michigan.
For privacy questions or requests, email khildebrand@computerfreek.me or call (248) 716-5142.
Contact forms and communications
When you submit a contact form, we receive the name, email address, subject, and message you enter, together with any other information you choose to provide. When you contact us directly, we receive your contact details and the information in your communication.
Homepage inquiries are delivered to khildebrand@computerfreek.me. IT Services inquiries are delivered to helpdesk@computerfreek.me and may be recorded as support tickets in our support-ticket system.
We use this information to respond to inquiries, discuss or provide requested services, troubleshoot issues, and maintain relevant communications and service records. We do not currently sell personal information, share it for targeted advertising, or use contact-form information for marketing mailing lists.
Please do not include passwords, payment card information, or other sensitive information in general contact forms.
Comments and website accounts
Where comments are available, WordPress collects the information entered in the comment form, together with the commenter’s IP address and browser user-agent information to support moderation and abuse detection. Published comments and the associated display name are visible to other visitors. Avoid posting information you do not want to make public.
Public account registration is enabled. If you register for a website account, we store your username, email address, and any profile information you provide. Administrators can access account records to administer the website. Depending on account permissions, users can update their profile information; requests for additional corrections or account deletion can be sent to us.
Avatars are enabled on this website. An identifier derived from your email address may be sent to Gravatar to retrieve an avatar. The avatar may appear beside a published comment. Gravatar is provided by Automattic, whose privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/.
Cookies and technical records
WordPress uses cookies for functions such as testing browser cookie support, maintaining login sessions, and remembering account display preferences. If you choose to save your details when commenting, cookies can remember those details for later comments. The client portal also uses session functions associated with client login.
You can manage or delete cookies through your browser. Blocking required cookies may prevent login or other features from working.
We have not enabled analytics tools, advertising tracking, or third-party CAPTCHA/spam-protection integrations on the website. This does not mean that the site uses no cookies or technical records. Website access and error logs may include IP addresses, access times, requested URLs, browser details, and errors. Email delivery records may also include connection details and delivery results. These records support operation, troubleshooting, and security.
Email delivery and client support
Contact form submissions are delivered through our email system. Copies of messages can exist in email mailboxes, outgoing email logs, support-ticket records, and backups.
The client portal at https://itflow.computerfreek.me/client/ is part of our support environment. Information supplied through support communications or portal features may be associated with the relevant account or ticket so we can handle the request. Additional information collected under a service engagement may also be governed by that engagement’s terms.
Storage and access
The website, email, support-ticket system, and their backups are hosted on our own servers, with backups kept locally. Self-hosting does not mean that communications never pass through other providers: email delivery and telephone communications involve the providers used to carry them, and external features such as Gravatar involve their respective providers.
We use information for the purposes described in this policy. Information may also need to be disclosed to comply with legal obligations or address fraud, abuse, or security incidents. Public comments are visible to other visitors as described above.
How long information is retained
| Record | Current retention practice |
|---|---|
| Outgoing website email logs | Automatically deleted after 14 days. |
| Received emails | Retained until manually deleted; there is currently no fixed automatic deletion period. |
| Help desk tickets and related communications | Retained in the support-ticket system; there is currently no fixed automatic deletion period. |
| Website access and error logs | Approximately eight weeks of history were present when this policy was prepared. An automatic deletion period has not been confirmed; eight weeks is not a guaranteed retention limit. |
| Local backups | Kept for approximately six weeks before being deleted or overwritten. |
Deleting an outgoing website email log does not delete the email received in a mailbox or a related support ticket. Information removed from a live system may remain in existing backups until those backups rotate out, generally within approximately six weeks. A record that remains in a live system may continue to be included in new backups.
Comments and account records can remain until removed through website administration or an applicable deletion request. No specific automatic deletion period is promised for these records. Records may also need to be retained to meet legal obligations, address security issues or disputes, or support an ongoing service relationship.
Your choices and requests
You may contact khildebrand@computerfreek.me to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with you. We may ask for information reasonably needed to verify your identity. Some records may need to be retained for legal, security, or ongoing service reasons. The rights and response requirements that apply can depend on your location and applicable law.
Providing optional information is your choice. If you do not provide contact details or information needed to understand a request, we may be unable to respond or provide the requested assistance.
Security
Our website is configured to use HTTPS to protect information in transit between your browser and the website. No website, email service, or storage system can guarantee absolute security. Contact us if you believe information associated with our services has been exposed or misused.
Updates
We may update this policy when our services or information practices change. The published page will show its latest revision date.
